Auditions
If you enjoy singing and want to learn and to perform in high-quality classical concerts with professional artists, we invite you to audition with the Ottawa Classical Choir.
The Ottawa Classical Choir offers many concert and travel opportunities in a stimulating, friendly environment.
Next Spring, we will be performing Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis to celebrate the composer’s 250th anniversary. Come experience the wonderful Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre with 175 choristers, an orchestra and invited soloists under the direction of Michel Brousseau.
Rehearsals
Regular rehearsals take place once a week, on Thursday night, from 7:00 to 10:00 pm at Martin Luther Church formerly Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 933 Smyth Road. Occasional weekend sectional rehearsals may occur.
The choir also holds an annual intensive week-end rehearsal. The choir provides members with home-study material for support in learning of musical parts.
Auditions
Auditions normally take place twice a year, during following periods: August-September and December-January. The ability to read music and choral experience are assets.
Auditions are conducted by the artistic director, accompanied by a member of the choir’s executive board. While auditioning, you will be directed into various vocal exercises to assess your range (soprano, alto, tenor or bass) and ability to follow vocal instructions.
