The Ottawa Classical Choir, member of the Société Philharmonique du Nouveau Monde (SPNM), is proud to present the music of one of the world’s most loved choral composer, John Rutter. Our concert program features two of his most renowned and most loved works, the Gloria and the Magnificat.
The concert will be held at Dominion-Chalmers United Church (355 Cooper St) on Saturday, May 21st 2016 at 7:30 p.m. Guest soprano Maria Knapik, the SPNM choirs and orchestra will be conducted by Maestro Michel Brousseau.
John Rutter’s Gloria was a milestone in his career and remains a favorite with choirs worldwide for its freshness, drama and sheer beauty.
The Magnificat is a musical setting of the biblical canticle of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Rutter’s Magnificat is intended to evoke the spirit of the many festive celebrations held throughout Europe in past centuries in honor of the Virgin Mary. To this end, the work is full of energetic and strong melodies.
This promises to be a wonderful evening of truly magnificent music. See you May 21st!
