In 2005 baritone Marc Boucher discovered a number of compositions in the Dubois family’s chest of treasures. He shared his discoveries with conductor Michel Brousseau, who in turn, visited the family in France and delved into the scores by this long-neglected composer. Brousseau returned to Canada with choral works such as the Messe de la Délivrance and the Messe solennelle de Saint Rémi,which were composed in 1919 and 1900 respectively. Upon closer inspection of the works, Brousseau became convinced of their value. In May 2008, Brousseau conducted the North American premiere of Messe solennelle de Saint-Remi, and a year later, performed the Messe de la Délivrance at four concerts in Montreal and Ottawa.
The two masses are presented on this ATMA recording.
